1. Introduction
TalkBuddy is provided by HONG THAI TECHNICAL TRADING COMPANY LIMITED ("Hongthaix", Vietnam), which publishes the TalkBuddy apps on Google Play and the App Store, together with its affiliate WayJet LLC (United States). In this policy, "we" means both companies. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we use, why we need it, when it may be shared, and the choices you have.
2. Information We Collect
Account and profile
If you create an account, we use your email address, display name, and profile picture, when provided by your sign-in method. We use these details to create your account, sign you in, personalize the app, and provide support.
Learning and app activity
We keep your learning progress, such as lessons and phrases practiced, mastery, streaks, saved items, and app preferences. We may also receive basic technical information, such as app version, device type, and crash reports, to keep TalkBuddy reliable. We do not use this information for advertising.
Voice and text you submit
If you choose pronunciation or conversation features, your audio is processed only to provide that feature. TalkBuddy does not keep the recording after processing. Text you submit to an AI conversation may be processed to generate a reply. Please do not include information you would not want processed for that purpose.
3. Service providers
We rely on trusted service providers to run parts of TalkBuddy. They receive only the information needed for their task:
- Account and cloud services help with sign-in, account storage, and syncing learning progress
- Speech and AI services process audio or text only when you choose features that need them
- App stores, payment processors, email services, and error-monitoring services handle purchase status, messages we send, or technical diagnostics. TalkBuddy does not receive your full card number
These providers process information on our behalf and have their own privacy terms. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Security and how long we keep data
We use encryption, access controls, and regular security checks to protect your information. Account and learning data are kept while your account is active. Sign-in security records are kept for up to 30 days, purchase and service records for up to 90 days, and de-identified usage statistics for up to 12 months. If you delete your account, we remove your profile and learning data. We may keep limited records for longer only when required for security, fraud prevention, or legal obligations, and delete them when they are no longer needed.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Download a copy — use Data Management to export your learning progress, saved items, and streak
- Delete your account and data — use Data Management in the app, or contact us if you need help
- Review your information — view the progress, saved phrases, and settings available in the app
- Use TalkBuddy without an account — learning data stays on your device, although online features still process the information needed to respond to your request
6. Information on your device and website cookies
TalkBuddy stores progress and preferences on your device so the app can remember where you left off. The website uses browser storage and essential cookies for sign-in and core features. If you give permission, optional analytics and advertising cookies may also be used to measure visits and show more relevant ads. If you decline, those optional cookies are not set. You can change your choice from the website's cookie settings.
7. Children's Privacy
TalkBuddy is designed for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
